White Fragility Book Study and Workshop

Book Study Series:
Monday evenings
6:30 - 8:00 pm
October 21 - November 11
Workshop:
Saturday, November 16
1:00 - 6:00 pm
Two learning opportunities available: book study series or workshop format... or both. The book study and workshop complement each other, but they can also be taken separately.
A dialogue and exploration based on the book White Fragility (info here)
Sponsored by the Racial Healing Group, with co-facilitators Dionne deVille and Sally Buras.
These events are co-ed for men and women; designed for people who identify as white.
Join us to learn common pitfalls that prevent meaningful cross-cultural dialogues. Learn how white fragility develops, how it protects racial inequality, and what we can do to engage more constructively.
Participants are asked to get the book ahead of time and read it, or be in the process of reading it, before we begin as a group. This will allow us to process in more depth. Info on book

About the New York Times bestseller:
“Robin DiAngelo’s White Fragility brings language to the emotional structures that make true discussion about racial attitudes difficult. With clarity and compassion, DiAngelo allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to "bad people'" In doing so, she moves our national discussions forward with new "rules of engagement." This is a necessary book for all people invested in societal change through productive social and intimate relationships.”—Claudia Rankine |
