The Gift of Allowing: Surrendering to Our Deeper Wisdom
Friday - Sunday
October 5 - 7
Friday at 3:00 until Sunday at 3:00
Optional yoga at 1:30 with early check-in at 1:00.
Sleep on-site (dorm style) or at home, or book the quaintly restored Abita Hotel next door
Fall Retreat for Women
Allowing isn’t a passive endorsement of unacceptable social and interpersonal dynamics. It’s a practice of being fully in the moment with engaged attention to what it is. Allowing brings us into direct relationship with the flow or blockage of our life force. By bringing awareness to this reality, by not resisting it, we actually gain access to greater reserves of energy.
Join us for an experiential workshop retreat in which we take a deeper dive into the practice of allowing. As we allow what IS, accepting life on life’s terms can be a transformative process of discovery. It can also be quite challenging, as no one rushes to the chance to feel pain, disappointment, fear or loss.
We sometimes even resist positive qualities of our personalities that don’t go with our self-image. Resisting the flow of love, wealth or higher purpose can create an emotional backlog and spiritual stagnation.
There are many reasons for not allowing that may make sense, but ultimately hinder growth. To list a few:

In a welcoming and supportive group, you will identify some stuck places and practice allowing what is. Our approach includes a range of modalities, including inner sensing, mindfulness, art, breathwork, journaling, movement and co-counseling. As you open further to allowing what is, something that you aren’t directing can emerge by itself. The energy moves, a flow occurs, something new arises…
From Diamond Heart Book I: “The only thing you can do is to be open and allow things just to happen, to allow the butterfly to emerge inside you out of the larva and be a different being. You might be amazed, saying, ‘Oh, all this time I thought I had to crawl faster. I didn’t know it was possible to fly.’ It will never occur to the larva that it can fly.”
Patricia and Catherine draw on their own expertise in facilitating sacred space and on the wisdom of their beloved teachers such as Pema Chodron, Thich Nhat Hanh, Tara Brach.
