New Moon Teachings and Meditation

Picture
Indigenous cultures, worldwide, knew how to live in balance and harmony with the Earth's cycles and rhythms. The movements of the Sun, Moon and Planets played an integral part in daily life. There is a profound connection between women and the Moon - a connection that can affect your personal inner peace and balance.

Our teacher Mary Ann McClellan is the co-founder, with her late husband, Medicine Hawk, of Earth Mother Awareness on the Northshore and represents Louisiana on a Grandmothers Council in Arizona. She currently works with the founder and director of the International Indigenous Grandmothers Society.

New Moon News

NEWS GOING FORWARD:

Teacher Mary Ann McClellan of Earth Mother Awareness has decided to focus her energies on the deep teachings and ceremonies of Purification Lodge and Vision Quest. So we will forego the New Moon gatherings until further notice. You are encouraged to spend some quiet time alone or with other women on the new moon, which is Wednesday, November 11 this month.

For more information on ceremonies with Mary Ann, wife of the late Medicine Hawk, please contact her at 2quest@bellsouth.net or (985) 796-5377. She is located in Folsom. Learn more at www.earthmotherawareness.com.

Mary Ann may occasionally join us at the Grandmother Group, which is another good way to learn introductory Native teachings at the time of the new moon, for those women over 50. Deep gratitude to Mary Ann for all she has taught many founders of the Women's Center over the last 20-plus years, and for her recent volunteer offerings at the Center. Watch for our special introductory speaking events with Mary Ann in the future.

Note: There is an app you can download called Phases of the Moon which is very helpful. For menstruating women, LunaPeriod combines a period tracker with moon phases.
