Grandparents raising grandchildren is not as uncommon as it used to be.
Come Join a group where you can develop social contacts for you and your grandchildren. Get support and learn about resources for the very difficult task of changing roles from grandparent to parent for the benefit of the child/children. These children often experience trauma, deprivation and anxiety that manifest in behavioral problems that commonly or uncommonly occur. These may include things such as bedwetting, ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating problems and aggression. Bring your concerns to the group. Grandparents often feel embarrassed or as though they have failed in raising their children. Discuss this in the safety of this group. We also plan to have speakers from local agencies and plan workshops in the future. We don’t promise to solve your problems but to support you and share ideas and resources. The group is totally confidential. Whatever is shared will be kept within the group. Group Leader: Kathy Allen is an experienced grandmother who raised her grandson from age four. |
