Practical Tools and Inner Resource Development
for Ongoing Recovery from Chemical Dependency
Thursday evenings
March 30 - June 1, 2023
6:30 - 8:30 pm
at the Women's Center
A 10-week group in person for women and men with at least 60 days continuous sobriety
Please plan to attend most every session
Facilitated in person by Alexandria L. Wilson, Holistic Wellness Guide, CD, PCD, CEOLD
Co-facilitated virtually by Patricia Stout, LCSW, Certified in Breathwork and Psycho-Spiritual Integration
So you figured out how to stop ingesting substances. There was a turning point. That chapter is behind you. Now what?
The feelings that arise after the over-stimulation or numbing stops can be as hard to manage as the substance use was. Do you ever feel like you got off of one merry-go-round and onto another? On the other hand, it could be hard to access emotions, and you may not sure what or how to feel.
Or maybe your emotions seem manageable, but relationships are a challenge. Now it’s easy to see the patterns….but not easy to stop them.
Then there’s this body, a body that may have been ignored or abused for months, years, or decades. Learning to live in a body consciously, without escaping, is an art and a science.
Given all these challenges, people sometimes go back to using or drinking or switch addictions because intense feelings (or lack of them) and relationships (or lack of them) are too painful. Often accidental overdose is a consequence because of reduced tolerance. Others commit suicide.
With a First-Aid Recovery Kit to supplement the resources you already have, ongoing quality sobriety is available, and it doesn’t need to feel like just surviving or being on “good behavior”.
You don’t have to figure it out alone!
This 10-week closed group will allow a space for skills-building, exploration, and interpersonal learning that is different from support groups or individual therapy, as helpful as those can be.
We will explore trauma-informed practices to help regulate the nervous system, such as imagery resources, self-care practices, energy work, grounding exercises, and more. We will also used tried and true activities such as affirmations and right-brained activities such as art and music.
Your inner skeptic is welcomed, and you can pass on an activity that’s not for you.
Open to all faiths and secular folks, your varied approaches to your spiritual life are welcomed here.
All programs at the Women’s Center for Healing & Transformation are LGBTQ+ friendly and strive for inclusion and diversity.

At an an international drug and alcohol conference, she presented on Breathwork and other non-verbal healing practices in recovery.
Patricia believes that recovery is partly about increasing your joy tolerance, as well as shame reduction and developing the ability to grieve. Patricia has been in her personal recovery since 1985 and enjoys finding ways to continue learning and growing, including her certification with the School of Spiritual Psychology, as well as through music, movement, mindfulness practices, and many types of circles. In 2012-2013, she led the founding of the Women’s Center for Healing & Transformation. She is excited to work with Alexandria with fresh approaches to re-birthing the self.
