In this workshop, we will use improvisation to explore self-expression.
Leave any formal musical training at the door!
In this space there are no wrong notes, and the music becomes a container for exploration and reconnecting with your authentic voice. Feel free to bring an instrument (any instrument!) if you would like or just bring yourself- our voices and bodies are our first instruments.
Please feel free to bring musical instruments if you would like to, but this is not necessary!

Healing Hearts with Art is a community-driven initiative supported by local artists and volunteers committed to promoting well-being through creative expression. The project is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the St Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:
Shelby Rosenblum, LPC, has been working in the mental health and addiction fields in the New Orleans area since 2006, when she began her career as a music therapist. In 2011, Shelby realized she wanted to deepen her skillset, so she enrolled in graduate school at Appalachian State University where she received master’s degrees in music therapy and clinical mental health counseling, as well as graduate certificates in expressive arts therapy and addiction counseling. After graduate school, Shelby returned to Louisiana and worked in a variety of treatment settings before making the transition to private practice. Since graduate school, Shelby has been excited about continuing to expand her knowledge and abilities. She has completed several trainings related to working with people who have experienced trauma, and she is honored to hold space and bear witness for her clients. Shelby has also begun to deepen her understanding of Jungian Psychotherapy and frequently brings these concepts into sessions. Shelby is very interested in incorporating creativity, the arts, and nature into her practice.
