Detoxing the Body

Various Approaches to Whole Body Cleansing with Suzanne Harper, LMT and Virginia Davis, LMT

In this class we'll discuss the benefits of detoxing the body, the organs of detoxification and their function, and challenges encountered due to lifestyle choices as well as the natural aging process.

We will highlight foods helpful for each of these organs and discuss various approaches to cleansing and detoxing the organs. Hand-outs will include a list of these approaches and books of interest related to cleansing. We'll share recipes and shopping suggestions for preparing for a detox and make a detox smoothie to share in class.
 

Cost info: $75 per person, suggested class fee

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

Suzanne Harper, BS, MHealth ED, LMT, has been in the Health Education/Massage Therapy profession for over 40 years. She studied Tai Chi at the Wen Wu School of Martial Arts in Berkeley, CA from 1976-77 and presently teaches Tai Chi and Qigong through Zoom for the St. Tammany Parish Library. She taught Massage Therapy for 10 years at Delta College in Covington, LA.

She received an advanced certificate from the Center of Mind Body Medicine in Mind Body Skills Group Training with Dr. James Gordon. She has taken many workshops and trainings in Health/Massage related areas including Applied BioMechanics, Healing Touch, Qigong, and received a certificate from Optimum Health Institute for 3 non-consecutive weeks of intense cleansing/juice fasting. Suzanne continues to practice Massage Therapy and BioMechanics, and loves gardening, hiking, and kayaking.

Virginia Davis, RN, LMT, received a BFA from Tulane University followed by a BSRN in Nursing from William Carey University. She received professional training in Integrative Health Coaching from Duke University and became a Licensed Massage Therapist. She is certified in Yoga from Kripalu Institute and Sivananda Institute, and certified in Tai Chi and Qigong.  

As a lifelong student of healing arts and modalities, Virginia has studied Healthy Living and Ayurvedic theory with Deepak Chopra and Herbalism with Rosemary Gladstar. For over 30 years, she has pursued Meditation studies in the USA, India and Europe. She owned and operated Four Winds Foundation, a spiritual retreat center, for 15 years. Virginia teaches Pilates, Qigong, Yoga, Food as Medicine, Meditation/Mindfulness, and has a practice in Integrative Health Coaching and Massage.
