Friday, September 25
11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Log-in begins at 10:45 am
1.0 Hour Continuing Education credit approved for Social Workers and Counselors (Co-Ed Program)

THIS PROGRAM WILL BE HELD ON ZOOM
Social workers have the privilege of working with clients/patients during their most vulnerable moments. However, due to the stress that our clients/patients are under during these moments, they may be easily triggered and can escalate quickly. During this training we will identify the signs of escalation and review techniques to de-escalate the situation while keeping you and the client/patient safe.

Learning objectives of this workshop:
  • The purpose of de-escalation will be defined.
  • Attendee will identify the characteristics of a client/patient in crisis and the signs of an escalating situation.
  • Attendee will review how to appropriately and safely interact with a client/patient in crisis using verbal and nonverbal techniques.
  • Attendee will explore potential barriers to successfully de-escalating a client/patient.
  • Attendee will discuss how to safely assess if more intensive interventions are needed.
