An Open-Hearted Conversation about Women's Reproductive Decisions

Picture
Wednesday, March 23, 2022
6:00 - 8:00 pm Central
Online - Zoom link sent after registration

Open to all women who come to the circle with respect

Wanting to make a difference on the issue of abortion?

Finding it difficult to work toward solutions…. because any conversation about abortion is so charged?

Feeling in your heart that something must be done, but not sure where to put your efforts?

Let's sit in a circle and talk, trusting that the collective wisdom will emerge despite individual differences. Please join us, and bring an adult daughter, niece, aunt, colleague or friend.

WC Intern Rachel Coalburn, who has a Women and Gender Studies BA and is pursuing a M.E.d in Human Sexuality, and
Catalina Reyna, long-time WC enthusiast and mother of a young woman, will share some information to get us started. Patricia Stout, LCSW will help facilitate the circle format for communication. Please contact Patricia at founder@womenscenterforhealing.org if you would like to be involved in the planning of this event.

Every woman present has the right to speak respectfully about her position and ideas and feelings on this issue. It is also fine to pass.

We commit to listen deeply to each other. We commit to sit with the discomfort and notice our own biases that keep us from hearing others’ information or their feelings.

We know that as women we operate best in community, not in isolation, and that our collective intuition, knowledge, insight, and hearts will bring us closer to solutions that are best for all.

Guidelines for our circle conversation will include:
  •  Taking turns
  • Giving everyone a chance to speak
  • Listening without interrupting
  • Pausing to breathe and center ourselves when a bell is rung
  • Directing comments to the whole group
  • Participating to the best of our ability
  • Using “I” statements
  • No personal attacks
  • Doing our best to support the group in keeping the agreements
  • Keeping to time frames for segments of the circle time

If you are able, please make arrangements to turn on your camera on as much as possible to help create community and a sense of safety.
Open to all women who come to the circle with respect. We encourage all views on this difficult subject.

Cost: Donations to the non-profit Women's Center for Healing & Transformation are gratefully accepted to support the administrative costs of putting this program on. You may also attend at no charge.

You will have the opportunity to donate on the registration page or anytime at womenscenterforhealing.org.
