100 Thousand Poets for Change Annual Reading

Featuring Louisiana Poet Laureate Mona Lisa Saloy
Louisiana Poet Laureate Mona Lisa Saloy will be the featured poet at the 100,000 Poets for Change: Northshore annual reading at the Women's Center for Healing and Transformation, 71667 Leveson St, Abita Springs, LA, on Saturday, October 1, 3:00 pm. until 5:00. Admission is free but donations will be appreciated.
There will also be an open reading, featuring all poets, women and men of all ages and ethnicities and LGBTQI+, who wish to participate.
Dr. Mona Lisa Saloy is a noted speaker and storyteller, whose work has appeared in dozens of journals. Her books include Red Beans and Ricely Yours (Truman State University Press), and Second Line Home: New Orleans Poems (Black Bayou Press.) Mona Lisa consults with the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) and the Louisiana Division of the Arts (LDOA.) She is also an active member of the Louisiana Folklore Society and has composed and performed a praise song for two presidents.
Poetry events at the Women’s Center for Healing and Transformation have always been big and vibrant showcases of women’s poetry on the North Shore. The Center joined 100,000 Poets for Change in 2018. 100tpc Northshore and the Women’s Center invite all poets, women and men of all ages and ethnicities, LGBTQI+, to participate. Five minutes or a three poem limit per poet.
We want to include everyone, so please, poets, come and sign in early!
