Treasured Keepsake Journals:
(Trash to Treasure Workshop 3)
Saturday, March 23, 2024
1:00 pm
In this workshop, we will work with the journals assembled in previous workshops. Participants will be asked to bring some materials with them, and the leader will provide additional materials. Focus will be on adding to your existing journal. For those whose journals may not yet be stitched, they may arrive 15 minutes early and bind the book before class begins.
Participants are also welcome to bring a journal from home if they did not attend the previous workshops.
There will be a structured portion of the class when the leader will guide you in making several pockets, bands and tuck-ins.
After that, participants will have time to work in their journals. Materials provided will include some fancy papers, envelope papers, stickers, edging and Washi tapes. Handouts will be available, so you can make these projects again.

MEET THE PRESENTER
Leslie Roussel is an experienced artist in several mediums. Vincent Van Gogh and Georgia O’Keefe are two of her favorite artists. Her interests include drawing, beading, and creative paper art, and she still practices what she learned at New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, with drawing, watercolor, acrylic and oil painting.
Leslie uses found materials, recycling “trash paper” to make journals. She started this during the Covid shutdown, working with a friend (via email) at a time when going out for art supplies was not an option. She began using what was at hand to create interesting objects, and then learned to create books. Leslie's unique beading and book binding items stand out as one-of-a-kind individual, precious pieces.
