Yoga Philosophy Discussion Group

Saturday, February 29
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Brahmacharya: Moderation and
Aparigraha: Non-possessiveness
A Co-Ed Discussion Group - Presented by Brenda Kelly, Owner of Yoga Blossom, LLC
In this Yoga Philosophy Workshop we will explore the fourth and fifth Yamas of yoga, Brahmacharya (in yoga we define this as practice of restraint, or non-excess) and Aparigraha (non-possessiveness). We will also review all five of the Yamas.
Yoga is not just the physical poses that we practice on the mat. Yoga is a way of living. Yoga is a sophisticated system of bringing more awareness of not only your body but also your thoughts. The Yamas (restraints) and Niyamas (observances) are the first two limbs of an eight fold path. We will discuss the 8 limbs of yoga and dive deep into discussion of Brahmacharya and Aparigraha. We will discuss how to consciously direct our energy (spending energy where it is needed and not where it isn't) and practice moderation in all things. We will discuss how our possessions possess us and how to let go of these attachments, so that we might open up to new opportunities around us.
Parts 4 and 5 of ten (and review of all yamas) - workshop discussion of the yamas and niyamas (there are 5 of each).
