Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor

Learning about the dangers of systemic racism often leads people to ask: What can I do personally to make a difference?

Layla Saad, an East African, Arab, British, Black, Muslim woman living in Qatar, came up with an impressive answer — a 28-day process that she calls a "personal anti-racism tool" designed to teach those with white privilege how systemic racism works and how they can stop contributing to white supremacy in the world.

Join co-facilitators Mikhayla Harrell, Eliana Gradishar and Keren Peymani for an 8-week co-ed dialogue and exploration based on Saad's book Me and White Supremacy.

This group will be co-ed, meeting on Zoom. Limited to 10 participants, See registration info below.

Participants are asked to get the book ahead of time and read it, or be in the process of reading it, before we begin as a group. This will allow us to process in more depth. Info on book

When Layla Saad ran a free month-long Instagram challenge during the summer of 2018, she had no idea it would become an international cultural movement.

Thousands of people from around the world were galvanized by the #meandwhitesupremacy challenge, examining and owning responsibility for the ways in which they uphold white supremacy. Over 80,000 people downloaded her guide to the movement, Me and White Supremacy Workbook in the space of just six months. And now, that guide is a published book.

Me and White Supremacy: A 28-Day Challenge to Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor leads readers through a journey of understanding their white privilege and participation in white supremacy, so that they can stop (often unconsciously) inflicting damage on black, indigenous and people of color, and in turn, help other white people do better, too. The book goes beyond the original workbook by adding more historical and cultural contexts, sharing moving stories and anecdotes, and includes expanded definitions, examples, and further resources.
