Guided meditation in the style of Thich Nhat Hanh. "Breathing in, I am aware of breathing in...breathing out, I am aware of breathing out." With the mindfulness bell and guided phrases leading into silent sitting meditation, the tensions of mind and body release.
Our Monday meditations are generally facilitated by Patricia Stout, lay member of the Order of Interbeing, and Elaine Pote, who have been fortunate to attend retreats with this world peace leader and master teacher and his monastics and Dharma Teachers. Please join us. Newcomers are welcome.
Northshore Rising Sun Sangha hosts several sessions per week at various locations in this tradition, for men and women. Visit http://risingsunsangha.weebly.com/
The meditation group has decided to include teachings from Brother Phap Hai, a student of world renowned teacher Thich Nhat Hahn and the Abbott of Deer Park Monastery in California. Originally from Australia, Br. Hai’s style of writing has been described as approachable, warm, humorous, and insightful...all while managing to give a concise but rich overview of the tenets backing up Buddhist philosophy for 2500 years. His book is entitled Nothing To It: Ten Ways to Be at Home with Yourself. We may show some short video clips of his Dharma talks as well.
This is not a formal book study. You can always show up on Mondays at noon to meditate and share fellowship (also called “Sangha” in this tradition) whether you’ve read the book or not. Join in at any time.
We also share the practice of reciting the Five Mindfulness Trainings on the first Monday of each month, with meditation and reflection on how they affect our lives and point to our collective awakening.
Our meditation group is open to beginners and experienced meditators. While based in Zen Buddhism, all faiths are welcome, and most secular meditators are comfortable with our practices as well.
