Exploring Gut Health and its Impact on The Mind and Body
Exploring Gut Health and its Impact on The Mind and Body
Learn the importance of why having a healthy gut microbiome can optimize mood, brain function, immune function, and improve health and vitality. Common lifestyle habits can disrupt the microbiome and lead to an array of digestive symptoms like abdominal bloating, indigestion, gas, constipation or diarrhea. Gut dysfunction can also manifest as symptoms outside of the gut such as brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, depression, achy joints, and headaches.
At this workshop you will learn about:
The Gut-Brain Axis - The gut-brain connection is a powerful aspect of our health that we can influence through diet and lifestyle choices.
We will discuss the gut-brain bidirectional system which involves neural, hormonal, and immunological signaling pathways all of which greatly impacts our physical wellbeing. The human gut houses trillions of microorganisms, collectively known as the gut microbiota. These microbes play a crucial role in digestion, immunity, and overall health. The gut microbiota can influence brain function, mood and behavior through the production of neurotransmitters and other metabolites.
The impact that diet can have on the gut microbiome - What we eat profoundly affects the health of the gut microbiome and beneficial foods can have benefits for digestive, mental, and physical health.
We will discuss key dietary strategies to optimize the gut-brain connection.
We will sample foods and drinks that are rich in nutrients and probiotics that can help calm inflammation in the gut and increase the diversity and abundance of beneficial bacteria in the gut, promoting a balanced microbiome.
The relationship between stress and gut health – Chronic stress can negatively impact gut health. Stress can alter gut permeability and microbiota composition. Conversely, maintaining a healthy gut can improve the body’s response to stress, showcasing the bidirectional nature of the gut-brain axis.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and how to get to the root cause of digestive dysfunction.
Top functional medicine “biohacks” that work to restore the microbiome and practical tips for maintaining gut health!
