OYSTER SHELL RECYCLING & NATIVE PLANTS
Thursday, July 11
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
at the Women's Center
NPP Coordinator Andrew Ferris will discuss CRCL's Native Plants Program and how people on the Northshore can plug in.
The Native Plants Program has planted more than 1 million plants since its inception that act as critical habitats for fish and wildlife as well as erosion control and sediment capture.
OSRP Coordinator Fiona Lightbody will speak on the ecological and cultural benefits of oyster shell recycling. Since the program launched in 2014, they have since diverted over 14 million pounds of shells from landfills. The program has taught community members about the coast while building living shorelines to slow coastal erosion and grow new oysters.
Open to everyone!
