Creating a Foundation of Resilience:
Improving Emotional Intelligence through Play Therapy

Picture
Friday, January 18
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Registration at 9:30 am

2.0 CEUs applied for and pending approval for Counselors and Social Workers

Oftentimes, our society wants to protect children, yet when confronted with trauma, we believe they are resilient. As practitioners, how do we build resilience after a trauma related incident, abandonment or distorted thinking patterns? It can seem like an insurmountable goal.

Playing may not seem like "therapy", yet it can help create a relationship between client and therapist that leads to a free-flowing openness where feelings can be named and identified. Improving one's emotional intelligence through this process assists a client in creating self-confidence and resilience.

As a result of attending this training, participants will be able to:
  • Identify the relationship between resilience and emotional intelligence
  • Explain what Play Therapy is and is not
  • Gain insight regarding the approaches that may elicit the identification of emotions for young children and teens

This workshop is appropriate for professional mental health therapists, as well as paraprofessionals, foster parents, CASA volunteers, etc.
