VIRTUAL PROGRAM HELD ON ZOOM
This seminar will provide information regarding what is commonly referred to as "Burnout" in the mental health field. Participants will gain information regarding the definition of Burnout and how it differs from vicarious trauma, secondary trauma and compassion fatigue. Participants will learn signs to look for in themselves and in colleagues.

Burnout will be examined and defined in terms of the Social Work Code of Ethics, the NIH and other resources. Participants will acquire resources and practical strategies to prevent and/or ameliorate burnout on an individual as well as organizational level. Participants will also examine and share self-care methods in terms related to code of ethics.

​Learning objectives of this workshop:
  • Attendee will be able to define Burnout according to the NASW, NIH and others.
  • Attendee will be able to examine Burnout in terms of code of ethics and which specific parts of the code apply to this topic and shall discuss why.
  • Attendee will learn resources and practical strategies to "extinguish" Burnout on the individual and organizational level.
  • Attendees will examine/share self-care methods and why this is important in terms with the code of ethics.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Lisa Donze Jacob, LCSW
​
Lisa received her MSW from Tulane in 2001 and her LCSW in 2005. She has worked at Mercy Family Center for 9 years providing individual and family therapy and facilitating social skills groups to boys and girls of varying ages diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Lisa is a trained facilitator of the Nurturing Parenting Program, Stewards of Children program through Darkness of Light Foundation, and a member of the first cohort of ACE Educators in Louisiana. Other experiences includes group and individual counseling to survivors of sexual and/or physical assault, work in Child Protection, Juvenile Detention, and facilitation of a parent support group for parents of children with Asperger’s Syndrome, as well as a support group for young adults on the autistic spectrum.
